As Mrs. Astolat searches for Merlin, the Librarians' latest item retrieval causes them to swap bodies.
Episode Recap
In Vienna, Merlin offers a boy money to buy ice cream. Noticing he is being followed, he tries to hide in an alley before being caught by Mrs. Astolat.
Meanwhile, the Librarians escape a cult while obtaining a bracelet, throwing it between each other to secure it. Upon returning to the Annex through the Magic Door, though, the group find they have switched bodies, with Charlie as Vikram, Vikram as Charlie, Connor as Lysa and Lysa as Connor. As the group struggles to deal with existing in each other’s bodies, they decide to go through the door again to switch back. Doing so, they switch again, with Lysa to Vikram, Connor to Charlie, Vikram to Lysa, and Charlie to Connor.
Being chased by the cultists through the door, the Librarians switch again, Connor to Vikram, Lysa to Charlie, Charlie to Connor, and Vikram to Lysa. Using math, Lysa determines the group need to continue trying at least 21 more times to arrive back in their original bodies.
Meanwhile, Mrs. Astolat returns with Merlin. Merlin insists he has been avoiding magic and imprisoned her in Camelot to protect her from the knights turning on each other. Not believing him, Mrs. Astolat admits she sent the Librarians on a mission to keep them away when she brought him in and voices her intent to have the Library Council decide his fate. Leaving, she places him under a sleeping enchantment.
The Librarians return. Before they can assess who has switched to who, the Magic Door malfunctions. Taking stock, Vikram is now Connor, Connor now Charlie, and Charlie as Vikram. Believing Lysa to be herself again, the other three swap clothes and belongings to better identify each other. While “Lysa” fixes the Magic Door, Connor examines the bracelet and finds a sign of the Gemini constellation. Drawing parallels to the story of Castor and Pollux, “Lysa” determines that the bracelet is the cause of the body swapping, activated by the Magic Door. Realizing their bracelet only has the Pollux half of the constellation, Vikram, Connor and Charlie use the Magic Pendulum to locate the Castor half at a museum in Athens.
As “Lysa” completes fixing the Magic Door, the four leave through it to the museum. Passing through it, the group finds they have remained in their same bodies. When they try to call Mrs. Astolat for help, their phones short out. Connor distressingly notes that they have properly tracked the second bracelet, but has bad past experience with Simone, the woman in charge of the exhibit.
In the Annex, Lysa wakes and finds she has swapped with Merlin. Using Charlie’s experience, she manages to break out of the chair and attempts to escape before being cornered by Mrs. Astolat. Lysa explains the situation and convinces her of the truth, leading the two to realize Merlin is with the team.
At the museum, Merlin as Lysa suggests the group split up. As Connor and Lysa search for hints to the bracelet, Connor notes that Charlie is in near-constant pain from her injuries. Charlie prompts Connor to explain his past with Simone. Connor admits he used and abandoned Simone during his efforts to find magic. The discussion prompts Connor to realize the bracelet would be in an underground exhibit.
Meanwhile, Vikram and Merlin find themselves in a different exhibit. Struggling to pretend to be Lysa, Merlin tries to encourage Vikram to be open to using magic. Suggesting that Camelot’s leadership was flawed, Merlin suggests Vikram would be a better leader of a new Camelot. Before they can talk further, the two are apprehended by security and brought to Simone. Connor and Charlie happen across them, leading Connor to help him figure out their history. Explaining Connor’s actions led to her firing, she remains angered by his reappearance and reveals the exhibit will close that night.
As the four assess their situation, they are cornered by Mrs. Astolat and Lysa, who expose Merlin’s body swap with her. Merlin vindictively blames Mrs. Astolat before admitting he is not responsible for the body swapping. With the museum due to close soon, the group hides in a sarcophagus room. With the bracelet in one of them but unable to search them due to security measures, Connor (as Charlie) leaves to talk with Simone.
Privately confronting each other, Merlin uncovers that the Library Council declined to punish him. Regardless, Mrs. Astolat remains suspicious of him.
Connor meets with Simone. Pretending to be Charlie, Connor insists he loved Simone and did not want to hurt her. Explaining he intends to protect an artifact, he convinces Simone to help. Inspired by his apology, she offers him her security card.
At the sarcophagus, the Librarians determine they need an offering to Hades to access the bracelet. Upon using pennies from a box, the group finds they have inadvertently activated a self-destruct mechanism. Realizing the pennies were made from a different material than the currency used in mythology, Lysa identifies a modern coin made from the proper material, safely deactivating it and opening the sarcophagus. Inside, the group find the second bracelet.
Reuniting, Vikram presents the bracelets to Merlin, the only one with the knowledge to handle them. Joining them, the group finds they have swapped again: Lysa as Charlie, Connor as Vikram, Charlie as Lysa, and Vikram still as Connor. Realizing Merlin has swapped back to himself and escaped in the distraction, Connor uses Simone’s security card to trigger alarms, trapping him in the museum. The Librarians split up in pursuit. Charlie, as Lysa, fends off security, while Mrs. Astolat heads to the roof and Vikram, Lysa and Connor head for a loading dock.
Connor confronts Merlin at the loading dock. Merlin joins the bracelets again as Vikram and Lysa appear. After initially confusing them, Merlin unwittingly outs himself, leading Lysa (as Charlie) to punch him unconscious.
As Mrs. Astolat and Charlie rejoin them, Vikram joins the bracelets, restoring everyone to their original bodies. With the group distracted, Merlin sneaks through the bay door. Closing it behind him, he reiterates his offer to Vikram to be a new king of Camelot before escaping.
The group returns to the Annex. Mrs. Astolat voices her frustration that the Library Council believes Merlin has changed and prepares to leave to chase him. Merlin’s actions leave the group conflicted. Declaring him an addict, Mrs. Astolat is certain Merlin’s use of the bracelets will inspire him to destructively find more ways of using magic. Vikram questions whether Mrs. Astolat’s actions have worsened the situation, prompting her leave.
Connor returns to the museum. As he apologizes, Simone admits she found it easier to do so after hearing it from Charlie before forgiving him.
Returning to the Annex, Connor reveals Charlie’s pain. After dismissing and questioning Vikram’s choice of outfits, Charlie admits she views them as his armor. Vikram remains unwilling to disclose what he found as each of them. Drawing on her experiences as Merlin, Lysa admits she felt Merlin’s constant need to use magic. Relating to his experience, Vikram voices his belief that Merlin is legitimate in his desire to live in a different time, before silently reflecting on Merlin’s offer.
