Recap - The Librarians: The Next Chapter 2x08 And the Last Resort

Original Airdate: August 24, 2026

A planned day off becomes Connor's worst nightmare when evidence points to a living puppet causing chaos around the resort.

Episode Recap

At the Marionette Resort, ventriloquist Arthur Pierrot performs with his puppet, Percy. Watching from the back, owners Nadia and Dmitri Bebek argue about him and the hotel's future. Dmitri wants to revamp the estate for modern audiences, among them removing Arthur, while Nadia wants to maintain hotel’s traditions.

Following the show, Dmitri bluntly fires Arthur and has him thrown from the building into a dry riverbed with his puppets. As he recovers, Percy suddenly comes alive and announces his intent to take charge.

At the Annex, the Librarians plan to investigate the resort to uncover a ley line. Having visited the hotel in the past, Vikram is eager to revisit and treat the occasion as a vacation. Against Charlie’s protests, Connor and Lysa agree with Vikram.

Arriving to the resort via taxi, Charlie reiterates the investigation is not a vacation. While Vikram checks in with Nadia, Charlie and Lysa notice photos of his past times in the hotel. After settling in, Vikram desires to attend one of the hotel’s puppet shows, though the group find future shows canceled, to Connor and Charlie’s relief. While talking about the hotel’s history, Vikram is dismayed to find the others not listening.

On their way to the hotel’s buffet, the group find Nadia and Dmitri arguing about his decisions and changes. Moving on, Vikram is annoyed to find the hotel’s formerly local buffet serving international foods. Before they can take part, a pig roast insults a guest and begins dancing with a turkey, prompting the Librarians to cancel their plans. Unseen by them, Percy watches from an upper floor.

The Librarians split up. Vikram and Lysa talk with Nadia, who has been fielding complaints from guests who believe the dancing food is a food poisoning-induced hallucination. Vikram praises her efforts and belief in preserving the hotel’s past. Meanwhile, Dmitri explains to Connor and Charlie that the hotel has been losing money and believes his changes – among them adding hookah bars, water beds and converting the theater to 3D entertainment – will make the hotel fit for the modern era. Arthur appears, fearfully warning him about consequences. As Dmitri sends him out again, Connor notices Percy watching before the puppet suddenly disappears.

Vikram and Lysa’s conversation with Nadia is interrupted as Dmitri supervises a delivery of statues, hyping the changes to make the hotel rival Coachella and Burning Man. Watching from afar, Percy causes some statues to fall and animates the wooden statues. Charlie manages to knock them over, saving Dmitri in the process. Regrouping, Charlie questions if the possession magic will soon affect people after inanimate objects.

Walking through the hotel, the group links the ley lines with the magical activity. Connor identifies Percy from a photo. Remembering Arthur’s warning to Dmitri, the group splits up again. Taking a reluctant Connor with him, Vikram visits Arthur, the two posting as ventriloquy enthusiasts. Entering his trailer, Connor is horrified by Arthur’s puppets. Arthur explains his family served as the hotel’s ventriloquists for centuries. As the most recent, though, he struggles with modern audiences. Vikram empathizes with his feelings. When Connor asks about his warnings to Dmitri and about Percy, Arthur forces them out.

In the hotel office, Dmitri calls a wrecking crew, intending to tear down the theater. Percy appears behind him and magically knocks him unconscious.

Charlie and Lysa manage to find the riverbed, the source of the ley line. There, they find an embroidered handkerchief with Arthur’s logo on it and miniature footprints.

Regrouping, the Librarians trade discoveries before asking Nadia about Dmitri’s whereabouts. Heading to his office, the group finds evidence of Dmitri’s abduction. As Nadia leaves to ensure the remaining guests’ safety, the Librarians conclude that the power of the ley lines animated Percy and set him loose to fight back against Dmitri’s destruction of his legacy. The group decides to split up again. Unwilling to enter Arthur’s trailer a second time, Connor is forced to join Charlie in searching for Percy and Dmitri.

Lysa joins Vikram in talking with Arthur again. Admitting his understanding of what happened, Vikram inspires Arthur to confirm the truth. Lysa figures out a way to create a tuning fork to cancel out the ley line’s magic animating Percy. Meanwhile, Connor explains to Charlie his fear of puppets stem from a birthday party in which a puppet knew all about him. Despite eventually finding out his mother told the puppeteer in advance, the experience continues to haunt him, to Charlie’s amusement.

Charlie and Connor make their way to the hotel theater, where they find the hotel’s puppets in the seats and Dmitri tied up on stage. As they move to untie him, the two fail to notice Percy watching them.

Lysa, Vikram and Arthur arrive to the theater, but find it locked. Remembering a secret entrance from his time in the past, Vikram manages to enter. Joining Connor and Charlie, the three find them being controlled by Percy. Despite their being controlled, Charlie and Vikram manage to incapacitate Connor, before Vikram and Arthur are able to subdue her in a puppet’s dress.

As Lysa tries to untie Dmitri, Percy takes the stage and announces his intent to control him as a puppet, along with future guests to the hotel. Lysa uses her tuning fork on Percy but it proves ineffective, further finding he shows no signs of magic. Turning his attention to Arthur, Vikram concludes that he has been unknowingly controlling Percy, the puppet acting on his repressed and suppressed anger. Percy confirms that he is Arthur’s subconscious and accuses him of being weak. Agreeing, Vikram berates Arthur, his unwillingness to stand up for himself and calling him an embarrassment to his family. Triggered, Arthur boasts about his skill and family history, withdrawing the magic from his puppets. Thanking them for helping him, Arthur hands Percy over to the Librarians.

The Librarians prepare to leave the resort. The group finds Dmitri preparing to leave, planning to bring his ideas to help a friend in England and having sold his shares of the hotel ownership. Now sole owner, Nadia admits she intends to make good on updating the hotel while retaining its history. Meanwhile, Vikram watches as Arthur puts on a history show about puppeteering to a group of children with a new puppet, Curtis.

In the Annex, Charlie secures Percy in a glass box. Vikram reveals a gift from Arthur, in the form of puppets designed in their likenesses. Initially linking the experience to a past adventure, Vikram catches himself, believing they don’t want to hear his story. Remembering their experience, Charlie, Connor and Lysa ask to hear the rest.

As Vikram continues his story, Percy looks to and winks at the viewer.
