The newly formed team of Librarians investigate a series of rage incidents at a campus, and encounter a mysterious figure with links to the Library's past.
Episode Recap
The Librarians, now made up of Vikram, Lysa and Connor, use their combined skills and knowledge to obtain an amulet from a group of mummies. Charlie, now their Guardian, fends off the mummies.
At Hughes International Academy, janitor Alex Kruepa has worked hard to obtain a scholarship for his daughter, Tamara. Feeling abused and disrespected by staff, students and Tamara, he vents his frustration to an ethnic statue. Becoming aggressive, Alex bursts into flame before collapsing into a pile of ash. A man witnessing the event observes the statue and takes Alex’s keychain bearing a picture of himself and Tamara.
The Librarians return to the Annex where they return the amulet to Mrs. Astolat. The Magic Pendulum points to the Academy. As the last to leave, Charlie vents her concerns about being respected by Vikram, Connor and Lysa and believes she needs additional help. Upon learning there are no plans for additional Guardians, Charlie bluntly leaves.
At the academy, The Librarians find missing posters for Alex. Their interest is noticed by Tamara, who questions them before being sent to class by headmaster Professor Hughes, whose family donated artifacts to the academy. The man directs the group to Kruepa’s storeroom, but vanishes before Vikram can question him further.
The Librarians split. Vikram and Lysa attempt to question Tamara, who lashes out at them and sends them away. Beginning to glow with anger herself, she finds the man waiting for her, who returns Alex’s necklace. Charlie and Connor question Professor Hughes before being interrupted by a pair of students fighting. The pairs begin exhibiting unusually agitated and combative attitudes toward each other. Overhearing the fight, Vikram and Lysa join Connor and Charlie, the four watching as Hughes’ anger gives him enhanced strength before he disintegrates.
As the group becomes more agitated, Vikram orders them to return to the Library to sort themselves out. Seeing the man, he remains at the campus and follows him into a library. There, he is surprised when the man recognizes him as a Librarian. With Vikram absent, Charlie leaves for the academy while instructing Connor and Lysa to research potential causes of the rage epidemic. While doing so, the two struggle to overcome their mutual frustrations.
Charlie tracks Vikram to the campus library, where Vikram identifies the man as Merlin. Explaining his obsession with magic destroyed Camelot, Merlin views his loss of power and chance to aid the Librarians as a chance to redeem himself. While Vikram empathizes with him as a man out of time, Charlie remains suspicious. Having tracked instances of rage to the school, Merlin believes they are dealing with a demon. Meanwhile, Connor identifies the culprit as a Bes and determines it came from Hughes’ collection of artifacts after being confused for a statue of the Egyptian Bes.
Finding the Bes broken out of its glass container, the group splits up, with Vikram and Connor following Merlin while Lysa and Charlie leave for the janitor’s storeroom. There, they encounter Tamara, now burning with anger, though Lysa is able to calm her. Vikram, Connor and Merlin find the Bes demon, which creates havoc throughout the campus. The three chase the demon back to its storage case, where Lysa is able to trap it with materials from the storeroom. Despite their success, the team finds their anger increasing dangerously.
The group realizes the shared rage of the students is keeping it strengthened and animated. Drawing on his experience working with students, Connor takes over an intercom and tells the students and faculty to leave for the day. In spite of it, they find the Bes remains animated. Realizing their anger is drawn from their fears, the four share their fears and resolve to help each other with them. Their anger eased, the Librarians find the Bes had finally reverted to its statue form.
In the aftermath, Lysa speaks to Tamara as she leaves a memorial photo for her father. As Tamara feels isolated following her father’s death, Lysa, drawing from her own experiences, encourages her to open up to others, after which other students leave offerings for her.
In the Annex, as the Bes demon is placed into storage, Vikram takes to offering a grading system for the others. Upon learning of Merlin’s involvement, Mrs. Astolat becomes angry, declaring him an enemy of the Library and a threat left loose in the modern world.
