Original Airdate: February 28, 2022

An investigation into an apparent accidental roadside death escalates when Palmer and Kasie are exposed to a toxic substance in the Forensic Lab.

Episode Recap

*Jimmy Palmer fantasizes a conversation with his deceased wife Breena when he wakes, finding himself and Kasie on the floor of Kasie’s lab.

Earlier, McGee and Torres discuss the latter’s recovery from the fighting ring when Palmer reveals he has brought his daughter Victoria to the squad room. Despite some awkward moments, she shows a familiarity with the team’s work when they are called to investigate a body at Quantico. At the scene, the team finds the Army Private First Class Philip Hanch’s body rolled into the wheel well of a military truck. With a hole in a fence nearby, the team speculates Hanch was attempting to break into the base. With Hanch’s spotty financial record, the team realizes that Hanch dealt in cryptocurrency while in debt. Sending Torres to distract Victoria, Parker visits Palmer in Autopsy to inspect Hanch’s remains, where he reveals a flask and his phone’s SIM card as his only intact belongings.

Knight speaks to Hanch’s ex-wife, who explains Hanch became embroiled in conspiracy theories. Parker, McGee and Knight visit Hanch’s trailer; while disgusted at its state, they find evidence of a figure called the Raven planning an attack on Quantico called and a partially emptied bottle of hazardous chemicals. Dropping off his evidence to Kasie, Palmer reveals Victoria has been suspended after a fight at school. The scan of the flask’s contents triggers a biohazard warning, locking down the lab as Parker calls to warn them about it.

Dr. Carol Wilson from the CDC is brought in to help investigate. After alleviating their concerns, she privately reveals to McGee and Knight that the toxin, X-18, is deadly and that her associate – Yuri Pastov, a Russian defector who created both the toxin and its antidote – has gone missing. Talking with his associate Dr. Channing Elroy, operator a civilian lab, they learn that Pastov has been missing for two days. Elroy confirms that Pastov created an antidote, leaving the team further pressured to find him. Meanwhile, Victoria tells Torres about the circumstances of her fight – pushing off a rude boy – garnering conflicting advice from Torres and Knight. Although Palmer and Kasie figure out a way to listen on the conversation, she implores him to focus on the situation. Quickly becoming agitated and arguing over their differing perspectives, Kasie reveals her intent to leave following her two near-death encounters working for NCIS. The two learn from Dr. Wilson that they are suffering the early symptoms of the compound, after which Palmer develops a severe nosebleed.

Due to the onset of symptoms, Parker reveals the team has two hours to find Pastov. Frustrated by their situation, Palmer wants to decontaminate and leave before Dr. Wilson reveals the severity of their situation. Parker, McGee and Knight get a lead, locating the residence of Dennis Newton. Although Dennis attempts to escape, Knight manages to hold him off until Parker and McGee arrive to arrest him. At the Forensic Lab, Palmer confesses his fear of Victoria experiencing the loss of both her parents. The two listen in on a conversation as Victoria confesses her dislike of being shielded, which she admits she appreciated Breena for and hopes for Palmer himself to come to terms with.

Interrogating Dennis Newton, he claims the Raven had pitched a different non-lethal plan involving laxatives to him to enlist his help. Finding the plans for it, they realize the Raven has an alternative plan and has Yuri Pastov with him. Meanwhile, Palmer and Kasie pass out in the Forensics Lab. With the severity of their situation now clear, Dr. Wilson suggests they call their families. While Kasie fails to call her mother, Palmer has an honest conversation about his fate with Victoria and to remember the ones who helped them.

Vance organizes a team led by NCIS to locate Pastov and the Raven. The team manages to subdue the Raven’s team. McGee personally kills the Raven as he threatens Pastov. Receiving the antidotes from him, he races back to NCIS.

In the Lab, Palmer and Kasie resign themselves to their fate when Dr. Wilson arrives to administer the antidote.

Following their recovery and a reunion at a hospital, Kasie admits she has chosen to stay at NCIS. Simultaneously, Jimmy reveals he has removed his wedding ring, choosing to move on.

After meeting with the team, Vance privately reveals the man threatening Pastov was not the Raven and shows a note directly addressed to Parker and the team reading “Nevermore.”

Cut To The Chase
